Necessary Equipment:
glass jar

Ingredients:
2 organic lemons
300g (10.6oz) honey

3. Put the lemon slices and honey alternately in the jar.
4. Keep it in the fridge for 3 days. Shake the jar once a day.

3 STEPS! How to Pour a Beer with a Perfect Head - Video Recipe

This video will show you how to pour a beer from a can into a glass, very common way in Japan.
You can apply this technique to the bottled beer as well.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2ROLO7Vc7RI

The key point here is "Perfect Head"!!!

Creating a very fine foam on top of the beer prevents it from oxidation and retains its flavor.

Pouring a beer is part of the tasting experience :)

---------------------------------
3 STEPS! How to Pour a Beer with a Perfect Head

Difficulty: Very Easy
Time: 3min
Number of servings: 1

What You Need:
1 cold beer
1 cold beer glass of your choice

Before You Start:
Wash the glass in hot water, let it dry naturally, and cool in the fridge.
Dirty glass produces large coarse bubbles and a rapidly disappearing head. Do not use dish towel because it can leave some dust on your glass.

How to Pour:
1. Create Bubbles
Pour beer from high above the glass until the glass is half full. You will get a frothy head, so wait 30 seconds to 1 minute until the large bubbles on the surface disappear.

2. Lift Up The Head
When the beer and the head are in halves, pour beer with great care (do not break up the fine bubbles) up to eight to nine-tenths of the glass. *You can tilt the glass if you want to.

3. Finish
Wait until the bubbles are about three-tenths of the glass. Then pour beer into the center of the head, lifting up the head again.

*Fluffy head poured out over the glass looks delicious :P

Green Smoothie (Enzyme-Rich Drink) - Video Recipe

Green Smoothie is a very popular smoothie in Japan these days. In this video, I will show you my Green Smoothie that I found very easy-to-make with low budget.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OAx3Z0qPZtk

I used to add leafy greens in my every day smoothie, but I recently realized that was WRONG.

Here are the tips for making Green Smoothie.
- use 6 fruit against 4 vegetable (but if you don't like vegetables, you can start from adding 1 leaf)
- do NOT use starchy foods because they can cause flatulence when you intake them with fruits: milk, soy milk, yogurt, carrot, broccoli stem, cabbage, eggplant, corn, pumpkin, bean, potato, etc…
- drink 40min-1hr before breakfast (you can get the most out of your drink)
- drink right after you made it (while the enzyme is active)
- best to drink 1 liter of green smoothie per day BUT what I think important is to drink it every day, so just start off from drinking a cup of green smoothie.

So now, I drink this Green Smoothie every day 40min-1hr before breakfast.
Then I drink this collagen smoothie with my breakfast, if you know. hehe

What is good about Green Smoothie is that you can alkalize your body. At the same time, you can intake more food items every day for a well-balanced diet.

---------------------------------
Green Smoothie

Difficulty: Very Easy
Time: 5min
Number of servings: 500ml

Ingredients:
1/2 frozen banana*
2 pieces frozen pineapple*
1 orange
1 kiwi
1/2 apple
1/4 lemon
2 leaves green leaf lettuce (spinach, kale, whatever you like!)
100ml water

Directions:
1. Place everything in a blender / mixer and process until smooth.
2. Pour into a glass, drink as soon as possible while fresh.

*I personally prefer to freeze bananas when they are at desired taste. Also, I freeze pineapple because fresh pineapple is quite perishable.

Soy Banana Collagen Smoothie - Video Recipe

I posted about this before but this is my every-day smoothie!

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TnMWD8DGOhQ

I always buy bananas when they are on sale and freeze them. In this way they won't get ripe anymore and you can use them anytime you want. Put each bananas in a plastic bag which you can get free at store. LoL Frozen banana will add smoothie a slush texture so you don't need any ice cube, which is another good thing to freeze!!!

Meiji Amino Collagen is No. 1 collagen supplement in Japan! It contains 5000mg of 100% low-molecular fish collagen (collagen peptide) per spoon, which is 1.5 times more absorbable than pig-derived collagen, and contains only 27 kcal. Supplementing the collagen helps you maintain healthy skin, hair and nails.

I don't actually like the taste of collagen, but I found it doesn't taste much of it if you add into this smoothie!!! For many years, my darling and I drink this smoothie in the morning. Believe it or not, we found our hair and nails got stronger!

Every weekend, I freeze bananas for weekdays. Did you know that banana is an anti-cancer fruit?!

Only good ingredients are mixed in this smoothie!!!

Why don't you try out!

---------------------------------

Difficulty: Very Easy
Time: 3min
Number of servings: 2

Necessary Equipment:

Ingredients:

1 (150g) frozen banana
250cc unsweetened soy milk

Directions:
1. Place everything in a blender / mixer and process until smooth.
2. Pour into a glass, serve as soon as possible.

Green Veggie Latte

Hi! The weekend was fast as usual, but we have a holiday (Autumnal Equinox Day) today! Yay :) Some people might have taken a day off yesterday because the train was not that packed in the morning.

Today, I will translate my favorite veggie latte. I think it is just the same as the one served at the cafe near my workplace ;)

---------------------------------
Green Veggie Latte

Difficulty: Very Easy
Time: 5min
Number of servings: 2

Necessary Equipment:
blender / mixer

Ingredients:
25g (1oz.) spinach
25g (1oz.) soft cabbage leaf
150g (5.2oz.) fresh banana
200cc milk
ice cubes

Directions:
1. Boil spinach quickly, soak in cold water, squeeze and cut into an inch long pieces.
2. Cut banana and cabbage coarsely.
3. Place 1 & 2 & milk in a blender / mixer and process until smooth.

My original recipe in Japanese is here.
I originally made it with Komatsuna. It is kind of Japanese spinach which contains less oxalic acid than spinach.

Actually, I was going to post this last night! I was asleep in front of the PC again :( Am I tired or what?! I was thinking of getting up early this morning but I forgot to set the alarm so I couldn't... I just woke up because it was 8:30 and I was late for the garbage collection!!!

It will be high 85F (29C) today!
I definitely need to wear summer clothes!

I gotta go now! See you again!!!

Fat-Burning Sour Drink

It is again hot and humid in Tokyo.
Glad not raining though!

Hmm. It is hot but I'm not losing weight!!!
Okay, here I'll translate my sour drink recipe, which helps burn fat ;)
I wrote about the sour drink before, but will explain it again!
Sour drink is a drink made by soaking fruits and sugar in vinegar for more than a week. The flavor of the fruits will be added to the vinegar after a period of time. When ready, you dilute it with water (or soda or anything you like) and drink.
The vinegar contains nutritional elements that are effective in relieving fatigue. Also it reduces blood cholesterol levels and there are many other good things for your health.

This time, I soaked white grapefruit and ginger in vinegar! I believe some people know but the grapefruit contains a fat-burning ingredient. Also a pungent ingredient of the ginger increases metabolism!

---------------------------------
Fat-Burning Sour Drink

Difficulty: Very Easy
Time: 5min + soaking time about a week
Number of servings: about 10

Ingredients:
200cc Mizkan's Rice Vinegar
200g honey
100g (about 1/2) white grapefruit
100g ginger

Directions:
1. Remove grapefruit peel, leave the pith on, cut into wedges. Peel ginger and slice.
2. In a scalded glass storage jar, dissolve honey in vinegar.
3. Add grapefruit and ginger, cover it with a lid, and keep in refrigerator (or in a cool, dry, dark place).
4. Shake gently once a day. After a week, remove grapefruit and ginger (you can eat grapefruit as is and can use ginger for cooking).
5. In a glass, dilute the mixture 4-5 times with soda or sparkling water (I recommend).

My original recipe in Japanese is here.
